Zara, una vez más, produce en una fábrica en la que mueren 7 trabajadores en un incendio

 Siete personas murieron en un incendio en una fábrica en India este fin de semana, de acuerdo con reportes de medios locales. La noche del sábado, la fábrica Nandam Denim en Ahmedabad se incendió y este se prolongó hasta la mañana del domingo, cuando 55 bomberos lograron apagar las llamas. Los cuerpos fueron recuperados por las autoridades entre la noche del sábado y la mañana del domingo. Esta empresa es conocida por trabajar con marcas importantes como Ann Taylor, Zara, Ralph Lauren, Polo y Target.

De acuerdo con la policía y los bomberos, el incendio comenzó cerca de las 18:.30 horas (hora local) en el departamento de camisas en donde se encontraban cerca de 60 trabajadores. Muchos de ellos lograron escapar, mientras que otros se quedaron atrapados en el primer piso donde no había ventilación, según reporta The Indian Express.

El domingo, la policía arrestó al director, gerente general y oficial de seguridad contra incendios de Nandan Denim, mientras que el gobierno estatal emitió un aviso de cierre a la fábrica. Seis personas, incluido el propietario y director gerente de Chiripal Group, el grupo matriz y un fabricante líder de tela de mezclilla en el país, imputados por homicidio culposo y negligencia.

Las causas de este incendio se desconocen aún, pero el equipo del Laboratorio de Ciencias Forenses recolectó muestras para su evaluación. Un representante del Departamento de Recursos Humanos confirmó a los medios que la fábrica permanecerá cerrada hasta que se haga una evaluación de los daños y se hagan cambios para la seguridad del lugar, de acuerdo con The Cut.

Times of India confirmó que Nandan Denim ofrecerá una compensación monetaria para los familiares de la víctimas, y le dará trabajo a uno de los miembros de la familia de los trabajadores fallecidos, esto basado en sus cualidades. Sin embargo, los familiares aseguran que ni el dinero ni la negligencia le traerán de vuelta a sus seres queridos.
