Qué sabemos del vídeo en el que algunos menores con aspecto indio fabrican mascarillas en condiciones insalubres

Es uno de los vídeos que más hemos visto a lo largo de toda la pandemia, y ha vuelto a llegar al número de Whatsapp de Verifica RTVE. Muestra a un grupo de siete personas con rasgos indios, entre ellos algunos menores, fabricando mascarillas en unas condiciones insalubres. En esta ocasión se trata de una captura de una cuenta de Twitter en la que el vídeo se presenta así: “Gobiernos arrodillados al globalismo dicen que el uso de tapabocas debe ser obligatorio! ¿Quieren ver cómo son hechos los bozales que se ponen a diario?”

El tuit incluye las etiquetas #Plandemia y #WWG1GWA -siglas de la frase “Where we go one we go all” (donde va uno, vamos todos)- que utilizan aquellos que creen en las teorías de la conspiración, ya explicadas por Verifica RTVE.

La grabación dura 1’14” y es un único plano descriptivo, sin cortes ni edición de ninguna clase. En las imágenes se ve cómo tres adultos en camiseta de tirantes están sentados tras sus máquinas de coser fabricando mascarillas que podrían ser higiénicas o sanitarias. Sentados en el suelo, otras cuatro personas –que parecen menores- realizan tareas auxiliares cortando hilos y doblando y colocando las mascarillas en pequeños montones. En un momento de la grabación una mano aparta un montón de mascarillas y se ve escrito en una mesa, a mano y con rotulador negro, la inscripción “Andre 20/02/2020” (algunos internautas sostienen que la palabra es “Andye”). Pudiera ser el nombre del cliente que ha hecho el encargo y la fecha de entrega. Pero no hay evidencias.

El juicio de los expertos

Hemos hablado con una mujer que viaja frecuentemente a India para adquirir tejidos en nombre de una corporación española, y que prefiere no dar su nombre por no estar autorizada a hablar. «Son los talleres habituales que uno encuentra allí», asegura. Esta persona nos envía fotos donde también aparecen hombres cosiendo en el suelo, y las máquinas de coser son similares a las de la fotografía.

Visionando con más detalle una versión más larga del vídeo que hemos encontrado, en el 0:44 se aprecia una bandera de la India en la pared junto a un trapo rojo. También se puede apreciar que las máquinas de coser son “Typical”, una marca muy habitual en el país. Otros elementos que nos sirven para indagar en el origen del documento son las estampas de publicidad en varias bolsas del suelo. En una de ellas se puede leer “Sole” y “Metro”. Las tiendas de zapatos “Metro” tienen su origen en Bombai y están extendidas por toda la India.

A través de la ONG Manos Unidas hemos contactado en la India con el salesiano Father Rolvin. El religioso asegura que “esos zapatos también los hay en Pakistán y el acento y la pronunciación (de las personas del vídeo) es muy parecida”.

Desde el 25 de marzo

*El periodista pakistaní Shaheryar Popalzai dice que “El vídeo no parece de Pakistán. Están hablando en urdu/hindi pero el acento suena mucho al de la India”. A través de una búsqueda inversa realizada con InVid hemos llegado a múltiples sitios donde se muestra. La primera vez que lo encontramos es el 25 de marzo, en la página de Facebook de una publicación serbia especializada en automóviles (“Higiénico, ¿y qué?”). Sin embargo, Popalzai lo detecta en otra cuenta donde el vídeo aparece ese mismo día en hora anterior y ya se relaciona con India.

En YouTube lo encontramos el 27 de marzo de 2020 en una cuenta cuyo usuario se llama “We make for you” (Fabricamos para ti), que habitualmente difunde información sobre videojuegos. El vídeo lleva como título “A mask factory in India” y apenas tiene 60 visualizaciones.

Ese mismo día, en Brasil, la página web Reddit comparte el vídeo aprovechándolo para apoyar a Bolsonaro y su desprecio del uso de mascarillas para frenar el coronavirus. “Usen mascarilla! Por el amor de Dios!” apunta con ironía el usuario de la web junto al vídeo en el que se ve cómo las medidas higiénicas brillan por su ausencia.

El mismo 27 de marzo también hemos encontrado las imágenes en una página de humor en Eslovaquia con un texto que dice “Las cortinas limpias de la India ya están en camino: así es como se hacen los velos en la India”

En China Weibo.cn también está disponible, y algunos usuarios localizan en Irán lo que casi todos ubican en India, Pakistán o Bangladesh. También ha llegado a Turquía.

El 28 de marzo, el vídeo llega a España a través de YouTube, donde el usuario “El expreso de media noche”, con más de 9.000 suscriptores, lo publica con el título “Mascarillas made in India”. Tiene más de 6.000 visualizaciones.

Pero el verdadero salto en la viralización del vídeo en español se da cuando la página de Facebook peruana “De todo y mucho”, dedicada a “vídeos graciosos, memes, curiosidades, crónica, sucesos y reportes en vivo” lo publica en su cuenta el 29 de marzo alcanzando las 25.000 reproducciones. Lleva el título “Mascarillas y dolor infantil”, y se acompaña con un post que denuncia la esclavitud infantil e invita a ver un documental de la televisión alemana DW (Deutsche Welle) sobre este asunto.

Explotación infantil y falsificaciones

La página web DIGNItex también utiliza este vídeo para denunciar la explotación infantil en la India.

Pero el vídeo tampoco abandona ya nunca los foros en inglés, por ejemplo en Reddit. Se ha movido durante la pandemia en paralelo a la preocupación por la presencia de mascarillas y otros suministros sanitarios falsificados en el mercado mundial. Algunos medios como The Independent  han recogido que dichas mascarillas inadecuadas que se envían a todo el mundo “a menudo se fabrican en talleres no esterilizados donde se explota a los trabajadores”. La prensa española también ha recogido asuntos similares.

El archivo se ha internacionalizado llegando a países como China, Turquía, Estados Unidos, Eslovaquia o Perú, además de España. En Bélgica, la radiotelevisión RTBF hizo un intento de verificarlo resaltando la dificultad de llegar a verdades concluyentes. No conocemos con certeza el origen de esta escena por el momento, pero sí sabemos que las imágenes han sido utilizadas por defensores de las teorías de la conspiración y movimientos anti-mascarillas para desacreditar el uso de estos productos, vinculándolos a la falta de higiene durante su fabricación en Asia.
