“Era ya una necesidad en todos los ámbitos”, explica la investigadora y doctora en Comunicación María Lourdes Delgado Luque al hablar de por qué publica el “Manual de Moda Sostenible”, escrito en colaboración con Miguel Ángel Gardetti. “Aquel estaba más orientado al estudio de la persona y este habla del sistema en su conjunto”, dice.

Con anterioridad, había escrito “Quiero un mundo sostenible” pero solo apareció en papel en Argentina. Ahora, en cambio, este volumen es para todo el mundo. Asegura que es “para consumidores, emprendedores, comunicadores… a nivel divulgativo”. Son 207 páginas en las que se combina la teoría con las entrevistas y las llamadas a la acción.

El libro aporta entrevistas e información sobre “profetas y pioneros de la sostenibilidad”, dice la autora. Entre ellos, por ejemplo, está Carry Somers, británica pionera en moda ética, que puso en marcha la marca Pachacuti, que ha servido de referencia para muchas otras.

Entre las llamadas a la acción, por ejemplo subraya la necesidad de asociarse y de difundir el mensaje y las actividades de asociaciones que luchan en favor de la sostenibilidad.

El libro cuenta con entrevistas a “primeras espadas” de este nuevo movimiento social que se preocupó por la moda en su conjunto, para que sea sostenible y esté en armonía con la Casa Común, tal como la denomina el Papa Francisco en la encíclica Laudato Si.

Vigilar sobre todo a las grandes marcas

Este Manual de Moda Sostenible, que publica Arcopress, no abandona la crítica. Delgado incide en que, sobre todo algunas grandes marcas, se quedan en la comunicación pero realmente no hacen nada para lograr que se viva la sostenibilidad y siguen priorizando la venta a cualquier precio.

Ella, por contra, propone una “vigilancia” que obligue a modificar todo el sistema. “Es lento cambiar todo un sistema, pero será el auténtico cambio: en cuanto a materias primas, a fuentes de energía, a bajar el consumo…”.

Existen, en su opinión, notas positivas que hacen pensar que esto es posible. Es el caso de Genealogía, una marca que ha logrado fabricar denim sin consumir agua. “Es cuestión de ser exigentes con las empresas del sector de la moda y de cambiar nuestra actitud como consumidores responsables”, concluye.
