«Hoy en Zara es imposible conseguir un contrato de 40 horas semanais, es un lujo reservado la alguno/ha afortunado o amigo de…», explica el comité en un panfleto difundido durante la protesta. En la misma línea, indica que más del 70% de las trabajadoras tienen contratos de 24 horas semanais, ?lo que implica que se los salarios ya son bajos para jornadas completas, en contratos inferiores son de miseria. La esto hay que añadirle que existe una variación grande de turnos de trabajo?.
La multinacional prefiere contrataciones a tiempo parcial para facilitar la rotación de personal y ahorrar costes antes que subir de horas a los empleados que llevan años en la firma.
Las representantes del personal también denuncian el aumento de la carga de trabajo y del nivel de exigencia. Zara tampoco cobre las bajas ni las vacaciones. La compañía, además, se niega sistematicamente a reconocerle las categorías profesionales al personal, lo que lo obliga a ejercer responsabilidades que no son remuneradas.
La concentración del 13 de mayo estuvo vigilada de cerca por una patrulla de la policía española y por el jefe de seguridad de Zara. Este último se dedicó a fotografiar a los y las asistentes a la mobilización, que se extendió durante algo más de una hora.
